Sue Frame
Sue has loved fabric since she was a little girl, cutting holes in the middle of her mother's beautiful woolens for dolly circle skirts. She made many of her clothes through high school and enjoyed macrame, embroidery, needlepoint, rug braiding and other textile crafts until she discovered quilting. That first quilt was made for her son in 1977. The second was in 1981 for her daughter. A slow start, to be sure, but as the kids grew, so did the interest in quilting.
Sue's career as an elementary school teacher definitely interfered with her quilting hobby, but after retiring in 2008, she has enjoyed quilting all the more and finally joined the Santa Clara Valley Quilter's Association. She enjoys making gift quilts for children, grandchildren, sisters and brother, nieces and nephews and for her 92 year-old-mother, Juanita, whom she credits for her interest in making things.
Most years Sue's quilts have been shown in the Pacific International Quilt Festival, some receiving Honorable Mention and Judge's Choice recognition. She likes to create her own designs in large sizes so that they can be used to cuddle under or to dress a bed. Thus far, none have been sold (or offered for sale!). Someday her family will have the problem of dealing with the quilted mounds and the fabric stash! Considering their frequent use of "Mom's A-1 Storage," it's probably their just desserts . . .
